>> A busy East London shopping mall turned into a crime scene on Saturday night, after a suspected acid attack, which is believed to have injured six people. Police on high alert in Stratford after a group of males reportedly sprayed a noxious substance in a number of attacks at around 8 PM.
Police aren't treating the incident as terror related, and have arrested one suspect for causing grievous bodily harm. Videos posted to social media show officers crouching over what's said to be a victim of the attack.>> I think it's scary and disgusting, and it's horrible that people can't just walk and be safe anymore, it's horrible.
>> Now, that happen here, I'm concerned honestly because I live here, I work here, I'm here most of the time, so I will be concerned.>> Britain has seen acid attacks on the rise in recent years, linked to robberies and gang related violence. The increase in parts blamed on recent crackdowns, and harsher sentencing for knife crime.
The government has said it will look at tougher punishments for people who carry out these sorts of attacks, amidst calls for tighter controls on the sell of certain assets.
