Walmart outlook quarterly earnings Thursday and not boosting confidence and consumer spending the world's largest retailer cutting it nailed outlook for the year and reporting fourth quarter holiday sales that were softer than expected investors reacting to Walmart while the company stock plunging four percent in early trading , Walmart has been working hard to win back customers placing a new emphasis on fresh food along with better stocking its shelves and paying its employees higher wages it's also been investing heavily in each commerce as it struggled to compete with fast growing rival Amazon , to save money Walmart recently closed more than one hundred and fifty U. S. stores its largest nationwide shutdown ever including its smaller Walmart express location
