The mother sentenced Monday for joining Islamic State, handed a six year jail term for fleeing to Syria with her toddler and joining the extremist group. Shakil posted photos of the boy wearing an IS branded balaclava and next to an AK-47.

Mr. Justice Inman said the 26-year-old has shown no remorse and knew her son would likely become an Islamic State fighter. Shakil left the war torn country in January last year, voluntarily returning to the UK. During the trial, she denied joining IS.>> It was never my intention to enter into Syria.
