Not just Broadway, theatrical communities around the world have always been communities that have embraced people regardless of race or gender or sexuality, or religion. And they have reached to them, they've said we embrace you, and we stand by you. And we have to make tonight a statement of intent about that.
We have to say that this hatred will not win, it cannot win. And these people who are, I cannot begin to imagine the despair. In whatever way we can, we have to hold our arms out and say you're not on your own in this. And we're with you and tonight's show is a dedication to that spirit that will not be oppressed.
