>> After two years under Islamic State control the Iraqi army is finally closing in on Mosul. Troops backed by coalition airstrikes have retaken villages to the South of Iraq's second city. They say Islamic state fighters withdrew after seeing they were outnumbered and outgunned. Morcel is now in sight and the government says it will fully retake the city by the end of the year.
> We have liberated a number of areas and we say to our people in Morcel. You have been patient long enough and here we are coming to liberate you from oppression.>> The only offensive in Northern Iraq has been slow going. But in the West of the country, Islamic State have already been pushed back towards the Syrian border.
In Fallujah, Iraqi forces made inroads into the city on Saturday. The government says the militants are putting up a tough fight, determined to hold onto their stronghold West of Baghdad. But with army offensives in both Iraq and Syria, Islamic State under intense pressure and losing ground on all fronts.
