>> The judge facing a backlash after giving former Stanford University swimmer, Brock Turner, six months in jail for sexual assault, now getting reassigned from another case. The Stanford case has been getting national attention sparked by a passionate 7200-word letter penned by the victim. And the judge, Aaron Persky, has been facing several petitions calling for his removal from the bench.
Santa Clara County District Attorney, Jeff Rosen, saying in a statement Tuesday, quote, we lack confidence that Judge Persky can fairly participate in this upcoming hearing in which a male nurse sexually assaulted an anesthetized female patient. Routers correspondent Curtis Skinner spoke to two sources at the DA's office.>> They said it was a rare and carefully considered move and I asked two separate attorneys there, had they seen anything like this in the past and they were not aware of any similar moves in the past for this judge or any other.
The fact that the victim was particularly vulnerable factored into their decision.>> Local media have reported that some prospective jurors are refusing to serve under Persky, and one of the jurors on the Stanford case wrote a letter published Monday, saying he was, quote, absolutely shocked and appalled by Persky's sentence.
