>> Hillary Clinton's meeting with Elizabeth Warren today fueled all kinds of speculation that the popular Senator could end up being Clinton's Vice Presidential pick, but that's not what's really going on here. I'm James Oliphant, political correspondent for Reuters. And the real reason that Clinton and Warren got to together was to assure progressives in the party, those who have been supporting Bernie Sanders, that it's okay now to get behind Clinton.
>> Thanks.>> It's easy to see Warren's appeal as a possible Vice Presidential pick.>> You, Donald Trump, are a total disgrace.>> She has shown herself to be a good puncher and counter puncher at Trump, she's wildly popular with progressives. She's a dynamic individual. She could lend a lot to the Democratic ticket.
She could galvanize those Democratic activists that might feel sidelined now that Sanders is out of the race. The reason why Clinton won't pick Warren is the same reason Barack Obama didn't pick Clinton eight years ago. There's room for only one star on this team, and Clinton is not about to cede the limelight to Warren, who's independent, has her own agenda, and would build her own power center in Washington.
What does Warren get out of this? This is about leverage and influence. She wants a seat at the table. Progressives say that Warren would like to help vet Clinton's possible cabinet picks to make sure that there aren't anymore CEOs of Citibank becoming Treasury Secretary. This is the way that Warren can ensure that doesn't happen.
The meeting with Warren caps off what's been a terrific week for Hillary Clinton, and sends a message to Bernie Sanders and his supporters that the rebellion is over and it's time to come in from the cold. Gather behind Clinton and take on Donald Trump.>> A small, insecure, thin-skinned, wannabe tyrant
