a racist text message scandal that plague the san francisco police department could have tainted as many as three thousand arrests , now san francisco's district attorney has appointed three retired judges to review the integrity of those cases to ensure that no one was wrongfully imprisoned as a result of the officers biases , alex still brzezinski is covering the story for writers from the perspective of the san francisco district attorney the worst case scenario is to have somebody who is in prison right now was was wrongfully convicted as a result of bias on the part of these officers who are found to have engaged in racist and homophobic text messaging last month san francisco police chief greg sewer announce that fourteen officers engaged in racist and homophobic texting , joking about cross burning slave trading and white power sir call for seven of those officers to be fired and indicated that six others face lesser discipline , one of the fourteen has resigned , judicial panel is expected to review all the arrests and produce report on whether bias played a role in any resulting prosecution or conviction , whether those convictions should be overturned
