the catalyst of those protests were the tragic deaths of young men and a feeling that law is not always applied evenly , in this country black boys and black men experience of being treated differently by law enforcement , stops and in arrests and charges and incarceration , by almost every measure , life chances , the average young man of color is worse than his peers , and then compound over time , we got an accumulation of , not just decades but in some cases centuries , of trauma that we're having overcome , this will remain a mission for me and for my shell not just for the rest of my presidency
