>> Donald Trump's cabinet, starting to fill out Wednesday. The President Elect naming Betsy DeVos, to be his Secretary of Education. And South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to be ambassador to the UN. Political correspondent, Jim Oliphant.>> Donald Trump has finally added some diversity to his cabinet, with a couple of women.
Of course, these are not the top jobs in any cabinet. We're still waiting to see who's gonna be the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of State, Secretary of Treasury.>> But Trump's choice of DeVos, a wealthy Republican donor and activist for school choice, not without controversy.>> Now the interesting thing about Betsy DeVos is that she's already enraged conservatives and liberals, because she is for school choice and voucher programs, the things that progressives hate in public education.
But conservatives are furious because, she's a big supporter of Common Core, those education standards that Trump promised to do away with.>> DeVos tweeting out a denial that she's a Common Core supporter. Her appointment coming hours after Trump named Haley to the cabinet level post at the UN.
The two term governor winning acclaim for her steady handling of major upheavals in her state. Including the shooting of nine black church goers in 2015, and the removal of the Confederate flag from the state capital.>> Another interesting thing about Haley's appointment is that she was not a fan of Donald Trump during the election.
She backed Marco Rubio, then she backed Ted Cruz. She sounded very non-committal about Trump the whole time. And Trump in turn, as we've seen him so many times, was not a fan of hers and called her out on Twitter several times. But this is the new Donald Trump, he seems to be more forgiving, and he seems to wanna be more inclusive.
And so Haley is going to be part of his cabinet.>> Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants lacks any real international experience. But she has often called for civility in the political process which she'll be called on to practice now on the world stage.
