>> We are all losing our shirts today.>> The new front runner for Secretary of State, ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson, meeting with President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday. That according to a transition official, who told Reuters Trump also met with him earlier this week. Trump's latest favorite emerging as his transition team claims former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani withdrew his name from contention.
In addition to him there has been a long list of candidates, including former Republican Presidential nominee, Mitt Romney. But NBC News is reporting the job is a lock for Tillerson. Should he be the nominee, his business ties with Russia will come under intense scrutiny. Exon signed a deal with Russia's largest state owned oil company in 2011 and in 2013 Russian president Vladimir Putin himself awarded the CEO his nation's order of friendship.
Tillerson has also been a vocal critic of the US sanctions against Russia for its incursion into Crimea, which cost Exxon at least $1 billion in losses. Trump has been assembling a team that favors a softer line toward Moscow. His choice for national security adviser, Michael Flynn, has been a paid speaker for Russia's RT and said the US must respect the country's security strategy.
Climate change another potential divisive issue. ExxonMobil is under investigation by the New York Attorney General's office for allegedly misleading investors, regulators, and the public on what it knew about global warming.
