>> Zack made a habit of not cruising but getting through the first week->> At the 20th with Nike, 36-year old Roger Federer on Monday entered his first round matchup at Wimbledon wearing Uniqlo. The 20-time grand slam winner signed a 10 year $300 million contract with the Japanese clothing giant.
Nike chose not to match the offer. While everything from his headband to his shorts and shirt were branded Uniqlo, his shoes were noticeably still Nike. Uniqlo not known for its sportswear does not make sneakers. For years his famous initials RF were embroidered on everything from his jacket to his headwear, noticeably absent during Monday's match.
The Nike swish usually on his shirt and shorts were also gone. In its place, the red and white logo that tennis world and maybe more will now recognize as UNIQLO.
