>> Police in South Carolina say Republican congressional candidate, Katie Arrington, and a friend were struck by a vehicle going the wrong way while driving near Charleston Friday night. The other driver was killed. Arrington and her friend, who was driving, were seriously injured. On Twitter, Arrington's campaign says she suffered a broken back, broken ribs and leg injuries and that surgeons had to remove parts of her intestine and colon.
It says she'll likely undergo more surgery Saturday. The accident comes less than two weeks after Arrington upset incumbent congressman Mark Sanford in the Republican Primary. A defeat that President Donald Trump took credit for. On Twitter, Sanford said he'd be praying for Arrington and her family, Arrington's Democratic challenger Joe Cunningham tweeted that he and his wife are also praying for Arrington.
Adding that he's suspending all campaign activities until further notice. On Twitter, Arrington's campaign asked for prayers for her and her friend as well as the family of the other driver. It also promises Arrington will be back at work soon.
