>> This is what's left of a once bustling market in Kenya's capital after a deadly fire broke out in downtown Nairobi on Thursday. An early estimate puts the death toll at 15, with dozens more injured. And local hospitals have been told to prepare for more victims. Officials say the blaze broke out in a timber yard at 2:30 AM local time and quickly spread through Gikomba Markets, nearby apartments and shanties, but no word yet on what caused it.

People were seen sifting through the wreckage as smoke continued to billow from the site in the densely crowded part of Nairobi. The informal market sells everything from clothes to hardware. It's been damaged by fire several times in the past.
