>> Mates, can we just get through here, guys? Can we just get through here?>> A Catholic Archbishop in Australia was sentenced to a year in detention on Tuesday after he was convicted of concealing child sex abuse by a priest. Philip Wilson is the most senior Catholic cleric in the world to be found guilty or such charges.

The 67 year old will remain in bail until next month when it's decided whether he can be detained at home instead of jail. A court was told in December he had early onset all timers. An email remarks on Tuesday the court magistrate for the city of Newcastle said of Wilson, there is no remorse or contrition shown by the offender.

Wilson only stepped aside as Archbishop of Adelaide last month after a court found him guilty. After the sentence on Tuesday, abuse survivors outside the court claimed victory and called for the church to fire Wilson.>> Hell on earth, can somebody that's been convicted of knowing that children were being abused by a catholic priest remain the Archbishop of Adelaide?

If the Archbishop doesn't resign, I've said it before, the Pope must sack him, if the Pope don't wanna do it, the Pope becomes part of a laughing stock.>> In May, Wilson was convicted of covering up a serious indictable offense by another priest, James Fletcher, after being told about it in 1976.

Lawyers for Wilson argued he did not know the other priest had abused the boy. Fletcher was found guilty in 2004 of nine counts of child sex abuse and died in jail two years later. Court documents show Wilson will be eligible for parole after six months.
