>> Emergency workers cutting free passengers from a derailed Italian commuter train on Thursday. At least three people were killed and 13 seriously injured when the train, carrying some 250 people, crashed on the outskirts of Milan. Several carriages derailed around seven AM local time, and search and rescue efforts ended several hours later.
The Italian Fire Brigade released dramatic footage of passengers being pulled from the mangled wreckage. With some people being carried out of windows on stretchers. Eye witnesses, like this man, say they saw sparks and pieces of metal flying from the train as it approached the station. Near to where it crashed.
> But its operator says it was traveling at a normal speed before the accident. The head of Milan police says an investigation has been opened and the train's driver is being interrogated. A problem with the track is being looked at as a possible cause.
