>> Steve Bannon, the latest high profile figure summoned to testify before a House Committee as part of its ongoing investigation into allegations that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. The congressional grilling Tuesday comes just a week after Bannon stepped down from his executive chairman job at Breitbart News after a public falling out with the president over comments made by the former Chief Strategist to author Michael Wolff in his new book, Fire and Fury.
Bannon as quoted as describing a June 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr, Jared Kushner, and a Russian lawyer as quote, treasonous and unpatriotic.>> It's completely tabloid gossip.>> Trump fired Bannon from his role at the White House back in August, and after the latest comments in the books, said Bannon has quote, lost his mind and nicknamed him Sloppy Steve.
Bannon's comments in the book also reportedly have caught the interest of special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who according to the New York Times Tuesday, subpoenaed Bannon last week to testify before a grand jury as part of the investigation into possible links between the Trump campaign and Russia.
