Venezuela's presidential election officially underway on Wednesday, after incumbent Nicolas Maduro took the stage at a Caracas rally.>>
> Donald Trump is not the boss of Venezuela. The dominating elite of the European Union is not the boss of Venezuela.
In Venezuela empires don't rule, the venezuelan people do.>> The supporters in the crowd said they are fighting a US led conspiracy determined to end socialism in Latin America and steal Venezuela's oil. But critics of Maduro say he's ruined Venezuela's economy and turned the government into a dictatorship.
Maduro's approval ratings have plunged during to a brutal four year recession. Foreign sanctions against Maduro's government, including a US ban on investors on Venezuelan debt, have exacerbated the situation. And after surviving massive protests last year, the US involvement has now gifted Maduro with a compelling rally and cry as he seeks to keep hold of power in Venezuela.
Elections are due to be held by the end of April.
