in the Republican civil war one prominent group is not taking sides the party thirty one state governor I mean it's relevant in Washington the Republican nominating contacted shaping up to be the most divisive battle in a generation as a party we should come together and stop this foolishness , yeah Weinberger steering clear of the fight Republican governors who have done more than anybody else over the past few years defeat conservative policy in a normal presidential year governor play a big role in the Republican primary providing free publicity in their own political clout by endorsing the candidate they like most and they tend to back the eventual winner they lined up behind George W. bush in two thousand John McCain in two thousand eight and Mitt Romney in two thousand twelve , this year is different only ten of the nation thirty one Republican governors have endorsed one of the four remaining candidate and it doesn't seem to be making that much of a difference , Marco Rubio for example when the backing of governors from South Carolina Tennessee and Arkansas he lost all those dates , here's dnmt junkie think won the endorsement of the governor Alabama he got four percent of the vote there I'm not backing any candidate for governor of Iowa Terry Branstad urged voters to back anybody that had crews , yes the one that day god bless the great state of Iowa , yet another sign of the Republican establishment inability to shape the outcome of the election party insiders tell me voters are mad as hell and they're certainly not going to care what their governor thing , that makes it harder than ever senior leaders like Mitt Romney stop from capturing the nomination , without governors to back him up Ronnie and I have a harder time than ever to prevent a hostile takeover of his party
