>> Ohio congressman Jim Jordan, picks up political support Wednesday in his defense against allegations of ignoring sex abuse at Ohio State University.>> Jim Jordan is a friend of mine, I have always known Jim Jordan to be a man of honesty and a man of integrity. I also wanna make sure that Ohio State conducts the review of this doctor and what he did.
>> Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the late 80s and 90s during the tenure of Dr. Richard Strauss. Strauss has been accused of widespread sexual assault of student athletes. He committed suicide in 2005. The university announced an investigation into the abuse in April.
Since then, at least nine men have come forward with allegations through various media outlets that Jordan knew about the abuse or spoke about the abuse with athletes. One alleged victim said he reported his complaints directly to Jordan.>> To think that I would not stand up for my athletes is ridiculous.
>> A potential candidate for next Speaker of the House, Jordan stands firm in his denial that he knew of any alleged abuse.>> Absolutely untrue.>> But said he supports the investigation.>> If in fact there are people who have been harmed, if there are victims, I want them to get their justice.
>> Jordan told reporters he will participate in the probe disputing claims by investigators that he did not respond to their requests. An outspoken supporter of President Trump, Jordan tweeted Wednesday the reports are quote, fake news, as his supporters called the investigation a conspiracy by the so-called deep state.
