Meanwhile in the US Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, said on Thursday the administration is available for talks with Beijing.
But according to China's commerce ministry spokesman, there have been no talks between the two powers. Last week, the US activated $34 billion dollars worth of tariffs on Chinese goods, which Beijing then matched in kind. However, while the US levies mostly avoided consumer goods, the new list targets items like car tires, dog and cat food, and beauty products.
