my assessment today senator is that russia presents the greatest threat to our national security in russia we have a nuclear power we have one that not only has the capability to violate the sovereignty of our allies into to do things that are that are inconsistent with our national interest return a process of doing so so if you want to talk about nation that that could pose an existential threat to not states would have to point to russia and if you look at their behavior it's nothing short of alarming from my perspective my role would be even even as a relationship is challenged and even with the difficulties that we face right now i think it's important that we attempt to maintain a military to military relationship to mitigate the risk of miscalculation and begin to to turn into the trend in the other direction in terms of trust
