frustrated by the slow pace of federal action state attorneys general are now waging their own campaign against the sale and advertising of e. cigarettes to minors over a dozen agee's including those in new york california indiana and ohio are using new state local laws to put pressure on the industry at all levels from neighborhood vape shops to big tobacco companies , so they're going after , going after company , that , make false claims about the research on the cigarettes , %HESITATION and they're going after companies that make it easier to buy cigarettes online without proving your age in april two thousand fourteen the food and drug administration proposed banning sales to people under the age of eighteen but did not recommend prohibiting advertising flavored products or online sales all of which help make the devices more attractive to younger users , and just last year youth use of vaping devices tripled federal regulations prohibit makers of conventional cigarettes from targeting youth and from advertising on television billboards in mass transit but the rules don't yet applied to e. cigarettes
