>> Ever since Donald Trump won a surprise victory in the US elections, Israeli politicians have been excited about what it may mean for its own policies in the Middle East. Donald Trump promised to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to here in Jerusalem. That would enshrine Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Naftali Bennett, a far right politician, has also called in the past for Israel to annex the West Bank, where the Palestinians want for their own state. Speaking today to the foreign media, Bennett said that it was a mistake to have a Palestinian state and said now is the opportunity for Netanyahu to push for Israel to get big advantages from the new US president.
That could mean the end to a two state solution to the Middle East which would itself have repercussions. It's something the Palestinians have long campaigned against, and they themselves want to see an end to Israel's occupation of the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
