US President Donald Trump looking to rev up his stalled legislative agenda, hunkering down with members of congress Tuesday as the probe into Russian meddling in the US election grinds on and with Congress' summer break approaching. An early morning tweet wraps it up. Big meeting today with Republican leadership concerning tax cuts and healthcare.
We are all pushing hard, must get it right! True, given that an overhaul of the healthcare system and tax code were two of his key campaign promises. The Senate has still has yet to pass it's own healthcare bill, following the house with Congress aiming to overhaul the tax code in September.
A vote on the debt limit also expected before the August break. Trump highlighting his policy plans just two days before the spotlight moves to former FBI director James Comey set to testify in Capitol Hill in the Russia probe on Thursday. Meanwhile secretary of state Rex Tillerson on his trip to the Asia Pacific region saying Trump's been quote very clear to him about not letting the Russia investigation get in the way of efforts to rebuild relationships with Moscow.
