>> These images were taken moments after two Georgia inmates, Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose, were captured in Christiana, Tennessee.>> These are murderers, cold blooded murderers. And we did what it took to bring them into custody.>> The inmates were apprehended after a car chase with police Thursday night.
They'd been on the run since Tuesday after allegedly killing two armed guards during an escape from this prison bus. Their escape setting off an a nationwide manhunt. Authorities say the pair stole several cars, eventually ending up in Shelbyville, where they invaded the home of an elderly couple. The couple says the inmates held guns to their heads, tied them up with belts, ate their beef stew dinner and stole their jeep.
>> They told me exactly who they were. And they told me, we don't care, because we are going to be dead withing 24 hours.>> The couple was able to free themselves and call police. Authorities spotted the vehicle on the Interstate, setting off a chase. The inmates crashed the Jeep, exchanged fire with police and ran to another home to steal a car.
But the homeowner there was ready, and held the fugitives at gun point until police arrived.>> I saw it on the news. I didn't really think they'd make it this far. I mean, who thought they'd make it clear up to Tennessee?>> A $130,000 reward had been offered to information leading to their arrest.
The fugitives now face both state and federal charges.
