president Barack Obama's executive order shielding millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation blocked again leading the president only one option left an appeal to the Supreme Court , Obama announced last November he would exercise executive authority and ask the department of homeland security deferred deportation for up to five million undocumented immigrants with American born children or other family ties , and on Monday the fifth circuit U. S. court of appeals in New Orleans upheld a lower court injunction stopping the order from being implemented , now Obama signature immigration reform remains on hold nearly a year after it was unveiled , Republicans calling the ruling a victory for the rule of law immigration advocates calling on the White House to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court and hope for a favorable ruling next June
