>> The moment an explosion tore through the car of a Ukrainian Colonel, Maksim Shapoval was killed when the bomb detonated in Central Kiev on Tuesday morning. A passerby was wounded. Shapoval was a member of the country's military intelligence and the Defense Ministry has described the incident as a terrorist act.
Footage from the scene shows the wrecked car with parts of the vehicle scattered along the road. This man an interior ministry spokesman estimated the explosive to be more than half a kilo of TNT. No details have been released on who could be behind the attack. However, since fighting with pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine broke out in 2014, the number of incidents involving explosives has increased, though car bombs are relatively rare.
The last major such incident in Kiev occurred last July when a prominent investigative journalist was killed by a bomb in his vehicle.
