McDonald was holding a knife and walking in the middle of the street when he was confronted by multiple police officers.
Officer Jason Van Dyke fired 16 shoots killing the black teenager. Van Dyke's partner and two other cops initially said McDonald lunged at Van Dyke in an aggressive manner. Van Dyke was charged with first degree murder the same day the footage was released in November 2015.
