>> Greek police made a ninth arrest on Tuesday over the murder of a young American tourist on the Island of Zakynthos last week. The 22 year old was beaten to death last Friday after an argument outside a bar in the rowdy resort of Laganas. Six Serbs, one Greek and a British national had already been arrested and charged with murder.
They'll appear in court later this week. US media quoting police, saying the argument happened over a selfie.>>
> A lawyer for one of the suspects denied his client has committed homicide, but appeared to confirm the tourist had died from a head injury. The incident has sent shock waves throughout Greece.
The country relies heavily on tourism as it tries to emerge from its debt and austerity crisis, attracting some 25 million holiday makers every year. It's recently vowed to crack down on crime at coastal resorts many of which have become notorious for violence or indecency among drunken tourists. It's not the first time Laganas has seen such severe crime.
In 2011 an 18 year old Briton was stabbed to death in the resort.
