>> A new government report finds that global warming is highly likely caused by human activity, specifically the emission of greenhouse gases. And the change in global temperatures will depend heavily on how much carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. The report, released Friday, is required by Congress every four years and comes from a group of more than 50 US government scientists.
The findings at odds with the White House, as the occupant of the Oval Office has repeatedly called climate change a hoax. But the report says this is no hoax. For the warming over the last century, there is no convincing alternative explanation supported by the extent of the observational evidence.
The report, whose authors include scientists at agencies like the the EPA also at odds with the head of the EPA who himself has expressed skepticism at the prevailing science behind climate change. Officials at the EPA denied immediately respond to requests for comment. The report says the average sea levels are expected to rise, quote, at least several inches in the next 15 years due to rising temperatures and that, quote, a rise of as much as eight feet by 2100 cannot be ruled out.
