Damrey arrived just before the Apex Summit of Asia Pacific leaders is set to take place. The storm making landfall near the city of Nha Trang, around 310 miles south of Da Nang. That's the city that will host leaders including Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Xi Jinping from Friday.
Vietnam is prone to destructive storms and flooding. More than 80 people died in floods from Northern Vietnam last month, while a typhoon wreaked havoc in central provinces in September.
