I ultimately made the decision to keep schools open in this immediate area. I thought it was important to send the same message that the rest of the city was sending that we would not be deterred by terrorism, that we would continue our work as normal. I consider a suspect an enemy of New York City and someone who did great harm to the people of this city and to folks who were visiting us.

As I said, we will remember as New Yorkers as well. I'm not someone who believes in the death penalty in general. I just don't, I believe this is an individual who should rot in prison for the rest of his life. Thanks everyone.
