>> Rene Boucher pleaded not guilty on Thursday to a fourth degree assault charge for allegedly tackling Senator Rand Paul and breaking his ribs. An arrest warrant citing Paul says Boucher came onto his property and tackled him from behind as he was mowing the lawn. Shortly after the incident, local media reported that it was related to a property dispute.
Boucher's attorney, Matt Baker, said it was not politically motivated.>> That is absurd, politics has nothing to do with this. Zero.>> On Twitter, Paul said he suffered six broken ribs, and that an x-ray showed fluid build up in the tissues that lined the lungs and chest. Boucher faces up to a year in jail if convicted.
He'll return to court for a pre trial hearing on November 30th. And until then, he must remain at least 1,000 feet away from Paul at all times.
