>> Authorities on Sunday investigating a fatal helicopter crash that killed two Virginia state police officers who were monitoring the violent clashes between white supremacists and counter-protesters Saturday. The cause of the crash? Still unknown as the National Transportation Safety Board scours these woods where the accident occurred looking for answers.
The helicopter pilot, Lt H J Cullen, and Trooper-Pilot Burke M.M. Bates were among the three people who died in connection to the violence that erupted near the University of Virginia. A 32-year-old woman died when a car plowed into a crowd in downtown Charlottesville. No one on the ground was injured from the downed helicopter.
In a twitter message, President Trump sent his condolences to the families and colleagues of the 2 officers. Writing, you're all among the best this nation produces. An FAA spokesman saying the helicopter went down seven miles southwest of Charlottesville in the late afternoon. State police saying there is no indication of foul play.
