illing new clues that North Korea is working on its most powerful missile yet, which could reach as far as New York or Washington. A batch of photos published in state media showed leader Kim Jong-un visiting his nuclear weapons development center. Reuters' Jack Kim in Seoul says the photos have taken experts off guard.

>> There's one picture that shows a three-stage ballistic missile, the Hwasong-13, which is believed to be a more powerful ballistic missile, intercontinental ballistic missile that could hit possibly all of the US mainland. So that's what's alarming some people who have seen the picture.>> The new rocket would be more powerful than the two-stage rocket Pyongyang tested in July, rattling the region and sparking tougher global sanctions.

Although experts say the country is still a couple of years away from being able to actually hit the East Coast with a nuke. Meanwhile, the timing of the photo seems curious, since both Pyongyang and Washington have recently eased off the mutual threats.>> What is interesting is that North Korea state media have decided to show this picture at this particular time, when it appears that North Korea and the United States are both trying to lower tension slightly after weeks of very harsh rhetoric directed at each other.

It's possibly a message from North Korea that it's continuing to pursue developing ICBMs and other kinds of missiles such as the submarine launch missile, which is also seen in a separate picture.>> One analyst says the state media report is a kind of advertisement to show the world what's coming next from Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal.
