Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant, MVP of this years NBA finals, sending shares of Under Armour south Tuesday after trash talking the company's footwear during a podcast interview. Durant saying, nobody wants to play in Under Armours. I'm sorry, the top kids don't because they all play Nike.
Durant signed a hefty endorsement deal with Nike in 2014, rejecting an offer from Under Armour said to be worth up to $285 million over ten years. Someone who didn't reject an Under Armour offer, Durant's superstar teammate, Steph Curry. Curry's multi-million dollar package with Under Armour includes an equity stake.
Asked if he had talked to Curry about Under Armour shoes, Durant shrugged off the question by saying everybody knows Nike is better. Curry's shoe line carried Under Armour sales for three years, but demand for the latest collection, Curry 3 has been underwhelming. Under Armour did not immediately respond to requests for a comment.
