>> Three militant attackers who were shot dead on the night of the Barcelona attack, were caught on CCTV just hours earlier. The men used a car to ram into passers-by in the coastal resort town of Cambrils last Thursday. The occupants got out and tried to stab people. One woman was killed, and the assailants were shot dead by police.
The surveillance footage was released by Catalan Daily Ara. It says the group visited the same gas station four times that day. The newspaper reported that they were regular clients, and used to charge their prepaid cards there. On the day of the attack, they bought bread, omelets, and lighters.
That same day, a van plowed into crowds on Barcelona's Las Ramblas, killing 13 people, followed by the attack in Cambrils. In total, a dozen Islamist militants suspected of involvement in both plots, were either killed or arrested.
