>> Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton says in a new book that Donald Trump made her skin crawl during a debate last October. Audio clips from the forthcoming work, What Happened, aired Wednesday on MSNBC. In excerpts, Clinton described the October 9th debate where Trump closely stalked her around the stage, lurking behind her as she fielded questions from a live audience.
We were on a small stage and no matter where I walked, he followed me closely, staring at me, making faces. It was incredibly uncomfortable. He was literally breathing down my neck. My skin crawled.>> If he wants to start, he can start.>> Go ahead, Hillary.>> No, go ahead, Donald.
>> No, I'm a gentleman, Hillary, go ahead.>> The debate came two days after an audio tape emerged in which Trump bragged about grabbing women's genitals. With that in mind, Clinton wondered, do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he weren't repeatedly invading your space?
Or do you turn, look him in the eye and say loudly and clearly, back up, you creep. Get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women but you can't intimidate me. Looking back at these choices Clinton writes, maybe I've over learned the lesson of staying calm.
The book is hotly anticipated, but will it answer the question posed by the title? Clinton writing, every day that I was a candidate for president, I knew that millions of people were counting on me and I couldn't bear the idea of letting them down, but I did, she says.
I couldn't get the job done. The memoir will be released on September 12th.
