and conflict and violence president obama's attempt to advance his prize pacific trade deal stalling tuesday in the senate the measure failed after an overwhelming number of democrats voted no obama is asking congress to give him so called fast track authority meaning he would hammer out the terms with other nations while congress would take a yes or no vote at the end the trans pacific partnership or t. p. p. would buying twelve countries among them japan australia and vietnam in a trade deal supporters say would bring jobs back to the u. s. , but fierce critics like massachusetts senator elizabeth warren say the deal making is too secretive with representatives of major corporations allowed at the negotiation table while american workers are left out we can't keep pushing through trade deals that benefit multinational companies , at the expense of workers she and other members of congress are allowed to read the deal but they are not allowed to discuss particulars with most democrats opposing t. p. p. president obama is turning to frequent follow senate majority leader mitch mcconnell as an ally in trying to get things moving , sure hope to some of our colleagues across the aisle will heed the words of president obama , and rethink their choice and mcconnell said he would try again in the days ahead , if fast track does not pass it would deal a stunning blow to president obama and could put the entire trade deal in jeopardy
