for a monday president obama announced new restrictions that'll prevent the federal government from providing local police with the kind of military equipment that stirred controversy in the wake of the ferguson riots , in a speech in camden new jersey obama said the new restrictions will help improve relations between cops and communities , and we've seen how militarized gear , and sometimes , give people a feeling like , there's not deploying forces opposed to a force that part of the community , can alienate and intimidate local residents and send the wrong message , so we're going to prohibit some equipment , it is not appropriate for a local police departments , new restrictions will ban military grade equipment such as grenade launchers camouflage bayonets and explosive resistant vehicles that look like tanks , where , the congress is well it's the white house , all along the death of unarmed teenager michael brown in ferguson missouri last august protesters have said police used excessive methods to prevent demonstrations from getting out of hand , last month baltimore was rocked by riots following the death of twenty five year old freddie gray who died from spinal injuries he sustained while in police custody , the turmoil resulted in a city wide curfew and the deployment of national guard troops
