the national weather service issuing a new flash flood warning for houston on wednesday the fourth most populated city in america as at least seventeen people have now died in texas and oklahoma due to massive flooding from holiday weekend storms with more rain is expected in parts of the southern plains , and near dallas a dam at potere lake breached on wednesday after police had begun evacuating nearby residents the number of dead expected to rise in texas with several people still missing we are still in search and rescue motive we are still looking for viable victims i know the numbers have been chain , we are firm and eleven right now president barack obama on tuesday assuring texas governor greg abbott that he can count on aid from the federal government as record floods destroyed hundreds of homes , swept away bridges and even unearthed a coffin from houston cemetery , abbott has declared a state of disaster in at least fourty texas counties
