there could be a pivotal moment for periscope with you to kicking off a world tour thursday don't be surprised to see free live streams pop up for those unwilling to pay as much as three hundred dollars a ticket to see the biggest band in the world , it is both a blessing and curse of periscope the new live streaming app owned by twitter that took a hit in the media after some users illegally streamed the mayweather pacquiao pay per view fight live from their t. v. ease , but that was just one event , you too is playing no fewer than seventy arena shows giving more than one million potential smartphone users the chance to capture quality live streams from the event itself and not just from their t. v. news , something tour promoter live nation and the band could take serious issue with , jennifer saiba is reuters media correspondent my understanding with us periscope is if they have to make a good effort to try and stop these things from happening split that doesn't mean that a media company even though they're making the effort isn't going to go off and sue them so yeah they're putting , and that risk could include more than potential copyright infringement it could also jeopardize other content deals twitter is trying to make with media outlets as it looks to grow its user base and ad revenue they are trying to partner with media companies like they have this product called t. v. after five logo , say like the n. f. l. it was one of their feet deals you can broadcast clips , on twitter we will sell ads against it will split the revenue , so they've got a lot of media companies to do this on the one hand they're trying to do business with them and get their out of revenue and on the other hand they don't wanna like upset the media companies and rights holders like the n. f. l. as for you too will soon find out if periscope overstepped its bounds or merely serves as yet another means of promotion for one of this year's hottest tours
