>> But what we saw yesterday evening, was absolutely disgusting. The attorney general of our state, accused of doing things that no one should ever do, let alone someone involved in law enforcement.>> The mayor of New York City reacting Tuesday, one day after New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, resigned after allegations of physical abuse by four women, were reported in an article in the New Yorker magazine.
00:00:28
Reuters has not independently confirmed the accusations. The shocking allegations that Schneiderman subjected the women to non-consensual physical violence, rocked New York's liberal establishment, quickly prompted calls for his resignation by Governor Andrew Cuomo, and now, the New York City Police Department is getting involved.>> We're gonna get our investigative game plan going forward, and make sure we contact the people identified in the article, and make sure there's a full investigation in these, as I said, very serious allegations.

>> Schneiderman resigned just three hours after the report surfaced with this statement. In the last several hours, serious allegations, which I strongly contest, have been made against me.>> While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct, or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office's work at this critical time.

I therefore resign my office, effective at the close of business on May 8th, 2018. Schneiderman who planned on running for reelection, will be temporary replaced by Barbara Underwood, the State's Solicitor General.
