The flight, Sichuan Airlines 3U8633, left China's Chongqing on Monday morning, and was bound for the Tibetan capital of Lhasa.
The windshield shattered about half an hour after the plane took off. And it made its emergency landing in the Southwest city of Chengdu. Incidents involving cracked windshields happen on a regular basis, usually due to birds or lightning strikes. But an entire windshield coming off is extremely rare.
