>> It happened without warning. Cars, buses, and their occupants crushed when part of a flyover collapsed in the northern Indian city of Varanasi on Tuesday. Authorities say at least 16 people were killed, and dozens of others trapped in the rubble. The flyover was still under construction when a 20 meter beam came down.
The victims include construction workers and pedestrians who were walking underneath at the time. Ravinder Giri was standing nearby.>>
> There was a sudden bang. Screaming began everywhere. More than six vehicles got crushed under the pillar, people died horrifically.>> Rescue workers used cranes into the night to lift the beam and reach survivors.
Varanasi is India's most populous state. And the constituency of Indian Prime Minister Noren Ramodi who took to Twitter to say he was quote, extremely saddened. Police have announced an investigation into the incident
