>> Embattled EPA Chief Scott Pruitt spent $45,000 to fly five people to Australia last year to prepare for an official trip he never actually made. Sources revealing the costly travel as Pruitt faces growing outrage over his expenses from law makers on Capitol Hill. Reuters has learned to two of Pruitt's aides and three security agents made the Australia trip last August in business class seats costing $9,000 each.

The tickets fell within federal guidelines for long flights. But Pruitt himself never went ahead with the planed to visit due to Hurricane Harvey. In recent weeks Pruitt has drawn increasing scrutiny for his spending habits, and for his large security detail. The White House budget office is investigating whether a $43,000 sound proof phone booth installed for Pruitt at EPA headquarters violated the law.
