Fallujah is located West of Baghdad and is thought to be main IS base for attacks on the capital. It was the first major town to fall to IS when they swept through the country in 2014.
Now the government is vowing to retake it, but it won't be easy. About 50,000 civilians thought to be trapped there and the UN says, IS may be using them as human shields. Meanwhile, IS also under pressure in Syria. A coalition of Arabian kurdish fighters pushing Islamists out of territory along the border with Turkey.
