>> The Meridian Township and police publicly apologized Thursday to a victim of former USA gymnastics doctor, Larry Nassar. In 2004, Brianne Randall-Gay filed a police report accusing Nassar of molesting her during treatment. But Nassar told police he was performing a legitimate procedure, and police closed the case.>> Sadly, they took your word instead of mine.
>> Now the township and police department are confronting their past.>> I wanna start first of all with the most important reason we're here, and that's to apologize, on behalf of the community, our police department, To you, Brianne. We failed you, we let you down.>> The township will work with the police department to schedule training around the subject of sexual misconduct.
And they're working with Randall-Gay to implement reforms. She joined the press conference Thursday over a video call.>> When I reported my abuse to Meridian Township before, I was disappointed that there were no charges filed. I felt like my complaint was ignored. I felt like I was ignored.
>> On Wednesday, Michigan prosecutors said they have identified more than 265 victims of Nassar in total. Nassar will likely spend the rest of his life in prison, as he faces at least 25 years in prison in Ingham County and a 60 year federal prison term for a child pornography conviction.
