Lawmakers in America and Europe are now calling for investigations into reports Cambridge Analytica improperly accessed Facebook user information. Cambridge Analytica denies the reports, but its reputation is getting battered further as British broadcaster Channel 4 News published video of Cambridge Analytica executives talking about using bribes, former spies, and Ukrainian sex workers to entrap politicians.
Facebook said it learned in 2015 that a Cambridge University psychology professor violated its policies by passing data to Cambridge Analytica from a psychology testing app he had built. Meanwhile, late Monday, a source told Reuters that Facebook Chief Information Security Officer Alex Stamos is leaving the company in August.
The New York Times reported that he's leaving following internal disagreements over how the social media giant should deal with its role in spreading disinformation.
